Here at One Herd we believe that all animals carry great wisdom and are seen as part of the family. I feel privileged to be their guardian and am humbled by all that they continue to share with us so unconditionally. Currently there are two core horses, Forest and Sebastian, and some horsey friends that come to assist in the bigger workshops and programs.

Meet the herd & facilitators

Forest

Deep wise gentleman

I may appear a bit aloof, but really, I am a big softy and just like my personal space. I have a good story to the start of my life which has made me strong and resilient. I am fast and like to show off when the girls are around and strut my stuff. I love to play and do like to stick my nose into everything. I can teach you a lot about the energy that makes up life.

Sebastian

Gentle cheeky Earth boy

I have a big heart that I like to share generously with all who cross my path. Like Forest my beginnings to life were interesting. I was created in a petri dish for great things on the polocrosse field, however, at 18 months old I injured myself making me no longer ‘useful’ so was given up. I am really glad I did that because instead of running around a field playing polocrosse, I can now hang with my buddy Forest and you. Come and meet me – I’ll be the first to the gate!

Mystic Shadow

Alluring big personality, meet our newest herd member (2023). I’m a people person and sometimes think I might actually be a person! I am a smart, willing and a loyal friend who gets on with everyone. I do like to put my nose into everything and cause a bit of mischief so sometimes you need to keep an eye on me in case I eat the grooming brushes. Here at One Herd, I am learning that in having a voice, I don’t need to speak so loudly to be heard. I am recognising there is strength in being soft and standing in your own power.

Karen Jones

Holding a thriving clinic practice in the field of holistic health, Karen has assisted hundreds of clients, including individuals experiencing challenges with their mental health. In realising that some clients required a different hands-on approach for greater balance and support, her interest in equine-facilitation began. This led to two years of training during which she experienced the true transformational benefits that working with horses facilitate. Karen is passionate to bring equine facilitation to individuals and groups, increasing individual and collective connection, authenticity and true empowerment. Read more.
